Global Accounting Manager

We seek an Accounting Manager to join our global controllership team, located in our Chicago, IL office. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Global Accounting, and will be involved in, or directly responsible for, oversight of management and financial reporting, key accounting policy design and advice, and operation of finance processes across all our 44 countries.
Responsibilities:
Ensure a high quality of accounting output. Review and reconcile monthly reports for use by internal and external stakeholders. Maintain compliance with IFRS and management accounting policies, as applicable. Advise local finance teams across the world on accounting policies and practice. Help business stakeholders understand their financials and reasons for variances to expectations and plan.
Design, implement and perform key processes and controls including, but not limited to, balance sheet reconciliations, revenue and expense analytics, forensic accounting and IT controls operating in our new SAP system, to support the integrity of our financial output. Review and approve balance sheet and income statement reconciliations performed by our India based shared service team, providing feedback and guidance where necessary.
Oversee finance and accounting processes to ensure time and cost efficiency, and consistency with global directives and best practices. Continuously monitor processes, reengineering as necessary to address inefficiencies and inaccuracies. Write and edit documentation to keep narratives and policies up to date. Train others (within the accounting group, and wider finance team) to understand the Company’s accounting output and be able to work effectively with established processes.
Research IFRS guidance and advise on the Company’s position on accounting matters.
Write our annual financial report to include balance sheet, income statement, cash flows and required footnotes.
Perform our global financial consolidation including process of intercompany elimination and currency translation adjustment using our SAP BPC system.
Co-lead the Company’s response to, and preparation for, our annual financial statement audit. Work with our auditors to provide and answer questions on information provided.
Assist with the Company’s external reporting to stakeholders such as lenders, shareholders, vendors, clients and regulatory authorities.
Balance intercompany ledgers and maintain documentation to support intercompany transactions and transfer pricing arrangements.
Troubleshoot issues in the system; contribute to the design and testing of new developments
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in Accounting, or related area, with strong academic credentials.
CPA required
8-12 years of relevant experience, with in a public accounting firm or a for-profit business
Strong communication and analytical skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting deadlines and managing multiple tasks with limited supervision and strong attention to detail
Self-motivated
Experience in international accounting or in an internationally oriented setting is an advantage
Experience with SAP is an advantage.
Experience working with a shared service center is an advantage.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Candidates must possess authorization to work permanently in the US.
