About the Role

The HR, Payroll and Benefits Specialist Role will report to Kearney’s Director of US Payroll and Benefits. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has strong knowledge and interest in HR Generalist responsibilities including, Payroll and Benefits, and will act as a liaison between the two departments. This position will be based in Chicago, Illinois and can work remotely.

Job responsibilities:

Benefits

  • Coordinate transfer of information to internal and external contacts for proper plan administration.
  • Work closely with HRIS and Benefits Administration System administrator to support automation of benefit plan processes.
  • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
  • Help to ensure compliance with applicable government regulations, including timely and accurate reporting, posting and payment of fees.
  • Support daily benefits processing of enrollments, including new hires, terminations, and status changes, updating, and maintaining beneficiary designations.
  • Process monthly invoices and prepare vouchers for payment for a variety of group plans.
  • Participate in and support evaluation, recommendations, and implementation of new benefits programs
  • Assist with plan audits including preparing, collecting, and organizing data for actuarial assessments.
  • Complete benefits surveys and review information obtained from the results to assist with forecast trends and future benefits designs.
  • Help prepare, design, and distribute materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.

Payroll

  • Assist with reconciliation of quarterly and annual tax reporting and filings through ADP Smart Compliance
  • Monitors all tax inquiries and notices. Communicates with tax agencies and ADP on issue resolution.
  • Works closely Payroll Manager to ensure all Kearney tax obligations are met and processed in a timely manner.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for non-salaried employees
  • Perform tax audits to ensure accurate employee and employer tax withholdings
  • Reconciliation of multi-state tax distribution issues

 

Qualifications/Attributes

Experience, Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field, and three to five years of related payroll or benefits administration experience.
  • CEBS professional designations preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Alight, and ADP preferred.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, OBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
  • Effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
