Kearney Research Analyst

Job Description

The Research Analyst will provide research support to Kearney consultants globally, working on projects, proposals and other business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with project team members to understand, refine and prioritize their research needs.
  • Identify and determine the most appropriate, cost effective and timely research solutions to meet needs.
  • Gather information using a broad spectrum of sources.
  • Organize, analyze and synthesize the findings into targeted, firm-formatted end products-including single exhibits, written summaries, basic fact packs, and spread-sheets, utilizing standard financial concepts, ratios and calculations.
  • Begin to build and develop knowledge in one or more “spikes” (e.g. industry, function, or geography) and tap into the firm wide network, where available.
  • Solid understanding of a specific content area and its salient issues form the basis for advancement at more senior levels of the Global Research career path.
  • Begins to develop basic fact packs and summaries to build your expertise and be assigned portions of larger documents in your area of focus.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent 4-year degree required (preferably in business, engineering or related research focused degree).
  • Preferably have up to 1-2 years of experience in research related roles.
  • Are able to come into the Mexico City office 2x per week
  • Request scoping/problem solving: Good investigative problem-solving skills – ability to help refine and focus project team requests and objectives
  • Numerical/Financial skills:  Understanding of standard financial calculations, ratios and concepts and general business concepts and terminology
  • Research output: Excellent skills in synthesizing data into Firm-accepted formats to produce structured exhibits and spreadsheets and extracting key points from research
  • Research dissemination: Proactiveness in sharing knowledge with co-workers and project teams, based on opportunities
  • Source knowledge: Solid source knowledge in area of expertise, if relevant; understanding of source quality, and use of possible proxies
  • Industry/functional knowledge: Understanding of the landscape of area of expertise (market shares, major players)
  • Communications: Good written and oral communication skills, including appropriate style, confidence, and structure; effective listening skills
  • Service orientation: Excellent customer focus, including proactive responses to project-team needs with thoughtfulness, commitment, and diligence
  • Team Skills: Collaboration, cooperation, and respect
  • Relationship building/networking:  Proactive utilization of network within the Global Research community and beginning of identification of experts in the wider firm community   
  • Creativity: Pursuit of out-of-the-box solutions whenever possible
  • Motivation: The drive to learn continuously and the application of those learnings for the benefit of the firm and our clients
  • Time management skills: Reliability, dependability, and an ability to manage workload effectively
  • IT Proficiency: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ethics: Compliance with company policies at all times
