As a Director at Kearney, you will contribute to consulting project teams as they offer honest advice and practical guidance to our clients. Depending on each client’s unique needs, projects can differ in length, size, and location, giving you unique, hands-on experiences across a range of industries and service practices. 

As part of broader Corporate Development efforts, M&A is a vital part of the firm’s strategy to accelerate growth by adding new capabilities and increasing client access. The M&A Director will play a critical role in Kearney’s strategy to achieve its inorganic growth ambitions. This role involves identifying acquisition targets, leading due diligence, and recommending and negotiating transaction structures. This role has high visibility with our most senior leaders across the globe.

Key responsibilities 

  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement M&A strategies aligned with Kearney’s overall business objectives.
    • Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets that align with the firm's strategic goals.
    • Lead the execution of M&A transactions from inception through integration. 
  • Due Diligence:
    • Lead comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial analysis, risk assessment, and valuation
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure thorough evaluation of targets 
  • Transaction Structuring:
    • Recommend transaction structures that align interests of the seller and with Kearney as the acquirer
    • Working closely with legal, negotiate LOIs and purchase agreements that incorporate structures that meet the needs and protect the interests of both parties 
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Work closely with senior leadership to align M&A and partnership strategies with the firm’s objectives
    • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing updates and insights on M&A and alliance activities 
  • Market Analysis and Insights:
    • Conduct market research to identify industry trends, potential opportunities, and competitive landscape
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis. 
  • Post Merger Integration:
    • Develop and lead comprehensive integration plans and oversee cross-functional coordination to achieve targeted synergies and operational efficiencies
    • Track integration progress using defined KPIs, report on outcomes, and conduct post-merger evaluations. Identify and implement best practices to drive continuous improvement and long-term success of integrated operations

  • Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
    • 8+ years of experience in strategy consulting, M&A, and alliance/partnership management
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to conduct rigorous due diligence and valuation
    • Proven track record of successfully leading and executing M&A transactions
    • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
    • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of consulting industry trends and market dynamics
    • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a proactive approach
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams

The salary range for this role is $170,000 - $270,000. However, it is important to note that at Kearney, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role. Individual salaries within each range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, location, knowledge and skills. Kearney reviews compensation regularly and may adjust base salaries to reflect market competitiveness. In addition to salary, individuals may be eligible for a discretionary performance bonus.
