Reporting directly to the HR Director - MEA, the HR Manager is required to provide practical, consistent, and proactive support, direction, and advice to other division managers on HR procedure, policy, best practice, employment rewards, benefits, and legislation to facilitate in achieving the objectives and targets of an organization. HR manager performs human resources management works relating to hiring, recruitment, training, compensation, promotion, termination, career development and retirement.
We are seeking a strategic and analytical individual who demonstrates full knowledge as an HR generalist and is a seasoned sole contributor with HR experience in professional services. Ideally you have experience in operating in other African countries, beyond South Africa. This role is based in the Johannesburg office and will contribute to and implement Human Resources (HR) strategy by providing leadership and expertise for the growing business across Africa.
Key responsibilities
Conducting with and advising management and supervising human resource issues; investigating human resource related problems and making recommendations to the organization.
Providing pragmatic and consistent guidance and advice to Employees and Managers on HR matters
Briefing new managers on the policies and procedures of an organization in conjunction with development and learning team, providing coaching to managers on difficult and complex issues.
Raising proactive issues with managers, identifying practical solutions to complex and diverse HR issues, and recommending appropriate action plans.
Closely monitoring and providing timely and quality advise on engaging foreign nationals.
Leading day-to-day payroll administration and acting as initial degree of contact for inquiries and issues related to payroll.
Collecting ongoing information regarding satisfaction of employee on salary packages and wage, working conditions, etc.
With the Recruiting Committee, defining the learning strategy and recruitment, setting high standard principles, and providing likely solutions.
Liaising with recruitment team on salary levels for existing and prospective staff consistent with organization market conditions and policies.
Receiving employee complaints and acting accordingly to resolve them.
Utilizing outside resources in order to monitor issues and concerns in employment law, communicating potential changes to senior management.
Reviewing and revising HR policies in compliance with changing or new legislation, developing new policies as required
• Co-develop (with the Unit Head Africa) and execute a BB-BEE strategy for the South African entity, aiming at achieving a leading contribution level in the consulting industry.
Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of consulting services and Africa will be advantageous with sound experience local employment laws. Exhibits knowledge in current and possible future policies, practices, and trends

Hold a university degree or equivalent in human resources or business related.
Have 7+ years of relevant HR management experience in a related industry.
Have good knowledge of HR law and practices.
Have strong project management, time management, and leadership skills.
Have solid problem-solving and business acumen skills.
Have a strong level of influence and negotiation skills.
Are able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines and targets.
Have good judgment and decision-making skills.
Have a high-level knowledge of legislation of employment.
Are proficient with budget management and calculations.
Have ability to influence and persuade senior management level.
Are an articulate communicator and ability to interpret and explain written and statistical data to a wide range of audiences.
Have a high standard of attention to detail.
Have a solid commitment to customer or employee service.
Have ability to convey difficult and challenging information to managers.
Are fluent in both written and spoken English.
Have high proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
Have solid knowledge of local HR systems.
Have sound knowledge of contemporary HR management practices and concepts.
